mockvox Terms of Use

Hey there! 👋 These terms govern your use of mockvox, our text-to-speech app. While legal documents are usually dense and hard to read, we’ve tried to keep this as straightforward as possible. That said, this is still a legal document, so some parts might sound more formal than others.

mockvox is an app by here & co.

License and App Usage

mockvox is licensed, not sold, to you by here & co. through the Apple App Store. This license is governed by both Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”) and these additional terms specific to mockvox.

Your license to use mockvox is:

• Non-transferable
• Limited to Apple devices you own or control
• Subject to Apple’s Usage Rules in the App Store Terms of Service

You agree not to:

• Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the app
• Reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code
• Use the app for any illegal purpose
• Distribute or make the app available over a network
• Transfer or sublicense the app to someone else

Usage and Pricing

mockvox offers both free and paid usage:

• Free tier: Up to 5,000 characters of text to speech generation
• Paid credits: Additional characters available for purchase, starting at $5 USD for 50 credits (50,000 characters)

Credits:

• Are non-refundable once used
• Cannot be transferred to other users
• Have no expiration date, but are subject to service availability
• Are consumed based on the length of text processed

While credits do not expire, the mockvox service itself is not guaranteed to operate indefinitely. We reserve the right to:

• Discontinue the service with 90 days notice
• Modify or end the credit system
• Change pricing for future credit purchases

If we decide to discontinue the service:

• We will provide at least 90 days notice via email and in-app notification
• We will make reasonable efforts to allow users to use their remaining credits
• Any unused credits after the service termination date will be void
• No refunds will be issued for unused credits

OpenAI Integration

mockvox uses OpenAI’s services to generate speech from your text. By using these features, you also agree to:

• Only submit content you have the right to use
• Not generate content that violates OpenAI’s content policies
• Accept that the AI-generated speech may not be perfect
• Understand that OpenAI may process your text data according to their privacy policy

Content Ownership & Usage

You own the audio files generated through mockvox. However, you must:

• Save any audio files you want to keep, as they are only temporarily available in the app
• Inform end users that the audio is AI-generated and not a real person speaking
• Comply with all applicable laws regarding AI-generated content
• Accept responsibility for how you use the generated audio

Content & Usage Guidelines

You are responsible for all content you input into mockvox. You agree not to use the app to:

• Generate hate speech or discriminatory content
• Create misleading or fraudulent audio
• Infringe on others’ intellectual property rights
• Harass or harm others
• Generate content that violates any applicable laws

Data Retention

Your text inputs are processed through OpenAI’s API. OpenAI may securely retain these inputs and outputs for up to 30 days to identify abuse. The generated audio is presented as a file in the app but is not stored anywhere - you must save any audio files you want to keep. Once you leave the generation screen or close the app, unsaved audio files cannot be recovered.

Warranty Disclaimer

We want mockvox to work great for you, but we have to be clear: the app is provided “as is” without any warranties. We don’t guarantee that it will always be error-free or meet your specific needs.

Limitation of Liability

Our liability for any issues with mockvox is limited to the amount you paid for the app or $50.00, whichever is greater. We’re not liable for any:

• Lost profits or data
• Business interruption
• Personal injury
• Any indirect or consequential damages

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We’ll post the new terms here, and they’ll be effective immediately for new users and 30 days after posting for existing users.

Termination

We can terminate or suspend your access if you violate these terms. You can terminate by deleting the app from your devices. Any unused credits will be forfeited upon termination for violation of terms.

In the event of service discontinuation, termination will follow the process outlined in the Usage and Pricing section above.

Additional Legal Notes

This agreement is governed by the laws of Nebraska, United States (for US users) or your country of residence (for EU users), without regard to conflict of law principles.

By using mockvox, you confirm that you are of legal age to form a binding contract or have parental consent if you’re a minor.
